Gastroesophageal reflux disease or GERD is basically a stomach disease in which the acidity in the stomach increases monthly that it flows back into the esophagus that causes a backwash or Acid Reflux which irritates the lining of oesophagus as our stomach contains a lot of acids. It is one of the very common problems that people face from time to time but the problem arises when the acid reflux is more than mild. This means if a person is suffering from acid reflux more than twice a week and has a burning sensation that makes swallowing food difficult and causes pain in such conditions one must seek medical help as it might lead to severe ulcers that could cause excruciating pain. GERD Cause:

Gastroesophageal reflux disease or GERD is actually caused due to frequent acid reflux which means the acid rushes back into the oesophagus causing damage to the inner lining of the oesophagus that causes a burning sensation and pain. Actually when a person swallows the muscles around the bottom of the tissue relax which allows the food or a liquid to flow smoothly into the stomach and then the spinster closes. But in the case of GERD, the sphincter relaxes abnormally and the acid from the stomach closes back into the esophagus and this constant backwash of acid makes the size of figures inflamed and irritated.

GERD Treatment:

The basic treatment for mild Gastroesophageal reflux disease or GERD improves lifestyle habits and food habits. But if the condition is severe; the doctor diagnoses and checks the complication before recommending the type of treatment.

Antacid is the most commonly used treatment for GERD as it neutralizes stomach acid. But it does not heal an inflamed esophagus; this requires medications that help in the relief of pain and inflammation.

Further, the doctor prescribes meditations to reduce the production of acid. Some of these medications are known as H-2- receptor blockers, cimetidine, and nizatidine; these help in providing release and decrease the production of acid in the stomach.

In case the condition is serious then the doctor wraps the top of the stomach around the oesophagus sensor and tightens the muscle in order to prevent Acid Reflux this process is known as fundoplication which is a minority invasive technique.
