At the CK Birla Hospitals, Jaipur, our Dialysis Unit under the Department of Renal Sciences is here to support patients with serious kidney problems. Dialysis becomes necessary when your kidneys are no longer able to perform their function—removing waste, excess fluids, and toxins from the blood. We cover comprehensive renal disease (ESRD), chronic kidney disease (CKD) and acute kidney failure.
Who Needs Dialysis?
You may require dialysis if you're experiencing:
- Chronic Kidney Disease (Stage 5)
- Acute kidney injury
- Severe fluid overload
- Electrolyte imbalances (e.g., dangerous levels of potassium)
- Uremic symptoms (e.g., nausea, fatigue, confusion)
How We Perform Dialysis at RBH
Haemodialysis
- This procedure is performed using advanced Fresenius and B.
- Braun dialysis machines equipped with ultrapure water systems and high-flux dialysers.
In this process:
- Blood is circulated through an external machine that filters toxins and excess fluid.
- It is typically conducted 3 times a week, each session lasting 3–5 hours.
- We offer both in-centre dialysis and training for supervised home-based dialysis when appropriate.
Peritoneal Dialysis
This method is ideal for patients who want flexibility or are comfortable at home.
This involves:
- Placing a soft catheter in the abdominal cavity.
- Using the peritoneal membrane as a natural filter.
We offer two types:
- CAPD (Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis) – Manual fluid exchanges throughout the day.
- APD (Automated Peritoneal Dialysis) – Performed at night using a machine while the patient sleeps.
