The healthcare provider usually provides proper guidelines to be prepared for a CT angiography test. The patient might be asked to stop taking some medications like vasodilators before the test. It is recommended to stop eating around eight hours before the test. However, the patient can still drink water if feels thirsty.

The patient has to stop the consumption of drinks containing caffeine around twelve hours before the test. This is because caffeine can fasten the heartbeat making it complex to gain a clear image of coronary arteries.
