About Dr. Raja Dhar

Dr. Raja Dhar has joined as Director & HOD, Department of Pulmonology at The Calcutta Medical Research Institute. Dr Dhar brings with himself more than 27 years of experience in Pulmonology, Critical Medical Management and Interventional Pulmonology. Dr. Dhar is proficient in all disciplines of Respiratory Medicine including airways disease, pulmonary fibrosis, pulmonary hypertension, transplant, lung cancer, sleep medicine, lung infections including TB, and respiratory emergencies. His special interest lies in Interventional Pulmonology including electrocautery, APC, cryotherapy, stent placements and Medical Thoracoscopy. He is passionate about teaching and is an avid researcher and academician.

Work & Experience

Dr Dhar has more than 27 Years of Experience. He has working experience with some of the leading tertiary care healthcare facilities in Kolkata & Abroad. He has been part of teams drawing up the National guidelines on Pneumonia, COPD, Spirometry and Bronchoscopy under the auspies of Indian Chest Society (ICS). He had a leading role in drawing up the ILD India Guidelines under the auspies of the ICS and NCCP at AsthamaBhawan in Jaipur. Currently lead of the team drawing up the ICS Adult Resiratory Vaccination guidelines. As a member of the Governing body of the ICS, he has a major role in developing modules in the ICS curriculum.
