Dr. Satarupa Mukherjee completed her MBBS form Nilratan Sircar Medical College, Kolkata with gold medal and honours. She stood second in the MD entrance examination and completed MD paediatrics from Medical College, Kolkata. After this she moved to South India to pursue her career in pediatric intensive care, getting trained in management of critically sick children. She completed FNB in pediatric critical care from the prestigious Kanchi Kamakoti Childs Trust Hospital, Chennai. Thereafter she moved to UK to get trained in pediatric critical care and cardiac critical care from the Great Ormond Street Hospital for children, London, the largest centre for child heart surgery in Britain and one of the largest centres for heart transplantation in the World. She thereafter moved to Royal Brompton Hospital which is the largest specialised heart and lung medical centre in United Kingdom. She completed MRCPCH from UK. She has more than 3 years of experience in paediatrics, pediatric critical care and pediatric cardiac critical care. Her areas of expertise are post-op care after pediatric and neonatal cardiac surgery, extra-corporeal life support and pediatric cardiac transplant. She is also actively involved with teaching and academic activities. She has many publications in national and international Journals.
Congenital heart defect signifies the defects i.e. present from birth (congenital disease). This group of disorders affects the way the heart develops and works from birth and can alter the way blood flows through a person's heart.
