About Dr. Kuntal Roy Chowdhuri

Dr Kuntal Roy Chowdhuri has been working as a Consultant in Adult and paediatric cardiac surgery at BM Birla Heart Hospital. He recently completed his fellowship in cardiac surgery from Royal Children’s hospital, Melbourne, Australia. 

He completed his MBBS and MS from Burdwan Medical college and RG Kar medical college, respectively.  His MCH training [2011-2014] in Cardiovascular and Thoracic surgery was from SSKM & IPGMER hospital, Kolkata. After that, he has received specialized training in all spectrum of complex congenital heart disease from world renowned mentors. In the past, he was associated with best cardiac centres of India including Fortis Escorts Heart Institute, New Delhi.  During his fellowship in Australia, he performed multiple complex paediatric cardiac surgeries including heart transplantation. In addition to knowledge of entire spectrum of congenital heart surgeries, he also gained immense experience with ECMO and LVAD implantation during fellowship in Australia. He also completed his observership from Children’s hospital Los Angeles, CA, USA.  

Dr Kuntal is an expert in performing surgeries of all simple and complex paediatric heart problems, even in neonates. In addition, he is very adept in performing all adult cardiac surgeries specially  heart valve repair and replacement, Coronary artery bypass grafting[CABG], Aortic surgery and Redo cardiac surgery.
