Kidneys are bean-shaped that are present in pairs on either side of the spine, placed below the ribs and behind the belly. Generally, the size of the kidney is about 4 to 5 inches and the main function of kidneys is to filter the blood. Further, the kidney helps in the removal of waste, it helps in maintaining the fluid balance of the body, maintaining the electrolyte balance in the body, and removing toxins as well.
