What are Epilepsy, its symptoms, and its treatment?

Epilepsy is basically a neurological disorder in which the brain activity becomes abnormal that causes sensations, loss of awareness, seizures, and unusual behavior that affect people understanding of that time. Anyone can get affected by epilepsy respectable of this race, background, age, or sex. In order to help patients suffering from epilepsy it is necessary that one understand what epilepsy is and how one can manage its symptoms. Seizures are one of the most common and widely experienced symptoms of epilepsy. These features can occur at any time and may be triggered without provocation. The treatment is usually done with medication and it may require surgery in severe cases where the seizures are uncontrollable and there are different problems associated with it. People who experience seizures behave unusually as there is unusual electrical activity in the brain due to which their behavior gets altered.

Seizures can be characterized as non-epileptic seizures and provoked seizures.

In the case of nonepileptic seizures are usually caused due to psychological stress and issues and it is not associated with abnormal electrical activity in the brain. This type of seizure is also known as pseudoseizures which look like true seizures and it is difficult to identify it from normal seizures without an EEG reading.  This type of seizure requires psychiatric medications and psychotherapy.

A provoked seizure can occur due to any reason; generally, people experience it as a result of low blood sodium level low blood sugar level trauma due to alcohol or drug abuse, high fever, or due to behavior of a person. According to various Neurologist doctors, it is necessary to evaluate the reason that provokes, as different people have different provocative reasons.
